World Series By Nissan Decides Title Winner in Valencia?
Barcelona,14 October 2004 - Valencia looks to be very decisive for the Finn driver Heikki Kovalainen (Pons Racing), which is set to be reigning in the World Series by Nissan 2004, as he only has to score three points to get the Tittle and proceed with the history of Ricardo Zonta and Franck Montagny.
Four drivers are still in the bid for the vice-championship: Tiago Monteiro (Carlin Motorsport), Enrique Bernoldi (GD Racing), JC Ravier (Epsilon Euskadi) and Tristan Gommendy (Saulnier Racing)
Valencia is regarded as the home circuit for at least 4 of the World Series drivers. Apart from Adrian Valles, Felix Porteiro and Sergio Hernandez, it is now the turn of the oldest of the Porteiro brothers, Santiago, who will made his debut in the family Team, Porfesa Competicion.
The Spaniard Celso Miguez, the Italian Matteo Pellegrino and the French Simon Abadie are also in the bid for the second and third place in the World Series Light category, which final meeting takes place also this weekend.
Pavlovic, the current Lights winner, has found an agreement with his team Vergani, to replace Ricci (now in GD Racing) in the Dallara Nissan SN01 car. Alongside these two drivers, Valencia will see the debut of the Japanese Hiro Yoshimoto and the Indian Karum Chandok. The newcomers will start their activity tomorrow during the two Free Practice sessions.
The Circuit of Valencia has already host the WS in this Season. The meeting disputed in June saw Kovalainen and Ravier sharing the podiums while Gommendy and Porteiro (Felix) switched 3rd positions. The official Lap Record is still in possession of Ricardo Zonta, 1.23.570.
