The Ferrari Driver Academy’s talent, Raffaele Marciello, literally annihilated the rivals by occupying the first position from Wednesday to Friday.
The 31st edition of Macau Formula 3 Grand Prix is ended and Raffaele Marciello is immediately back at work and continues the very intense preparation for the 2014 season being involved up to now in the group tests of GP2 Series in Abu Dhabi and the World Series by Renault in Barcelona.
The Italian driver in again behind the wheel of the Dallara T12 in the Formula Renault 3.5 also taking part in the tests that were held in the past days at the Motorland Aragón in Alcaniz, Spain. The result of these three days test was amazing!Ferrari Driver Academy’s talent literally annihilated the rivals by occupying the first position from Wednesday to Friday. On track with the Strakka Racing colours in the first two days, Lello didn’t allow anyone to lead the ranking and could impose a pace unattainable to everybody.
The first day’s most direct rival had as many as seven tenths gap, on Tuesday, indeed, the fastest couldn’t even get to be close less than half a second to the unbelievable 1:38.976 marked by the Ferrari driver, an amazing time that crumbled the previous track record!
In the last session, on Friday, Raffaele changed car and went on track on the Arden Caterham’s car, but the test results didn’t change: Lello ended on top the final day, too, despite of some troubles to the accelerator that forced him to stay in the box for a long time. But few laps were enough for the Italian to easily go back in the lead…
Then the feeling with the World Series By Renault car went far beyond any expectation, even the most optimistic. These tests in Alcaniz were a simply perfect performance!
Raffaele Marciello: “I am happy with the work I did in this test because I was able to complete a very busy work programme. In the first two days, I took to the track with the Strakka team and it took me only a short time to get the right feeling with the car which benefited from a set-up choice that suited my driving style.
We thus began to work on the details and, lap by lap, my adaption to the car and the track improved progressively. At the end of the second day, the track was very quick and it produced the top time that would remain the fastest of the whole test. On the third day, I switched to the Arden team and I struggled a bit more to adapt to their car.
In the afternoon, we changed the setup and set the fastest time of the day. Now, after the test in Abu Dhabi, taking part in the Macau Grand Prix and this last Formula Renault 3.5 test, I will head for home, hoping to have got all the information I need to plan for 2014 as well as possible”.
