Steady improvement for Mavlanov and steps forward for Oon

The Russian youngster reduced his gap on the leading cars to just 1" in today's morning session.

The third and final day of F.Renault 3.5 testing in Motorland Aragon saw Roman Mavlanov keep momentum and improve his performances steadily on the Zeta Corse-prepped Dallara.

The Russian youngster reduced his gap on the leading cars to just 1" in today's morning session, an impressive achievement considering that in the first session of this three-day test, held on Wednesday, Mavlanov had been 2"5 slower than the quickest car.

Just one month after the end of the F.Renault 2.0 Eurocup, the championship he contested in 2013, Roman is already on a par with drivers that are much more experienced, and his improving trend is very promising looking to 2014. On the team's other car, Australian young gun Jordan Oon got a taste of the F.Renault 3.5 performances.

He completed the day's programme listening carefully to advices from the engineers, and his afternoon laptime was 1" better than the one he had posted in the morning.

Claudio Corradini (Team manager): "We are really happy of how Roman performed in these three days. His progression was amazing and brought him on the same performance level of drivers that have much more racing experience than him. Oon did a good job too, obviously in his case there's more work to do and more room for improvement but halving the gap from the leaders in just one day ain't easy and he achieved that".
