ISR Racing secures podium spot at Hockenheim

ISR Racing had one goal for the World Series Renault event at Hockenheim: forget Budapest. On Day 1 of the seventh meeting of 2010, the Czech team accomplished the mission by taking a podium finish on the German venue. After being forced to withdra w in Hungary, the squad headed by Igor Salaquarda made a strong impression, with Esteban Guerrieri ending up Race 1 in second place after taking off from the front ro w.

Guerrieri kept position at the start, and chased polesitter Daniel Ricciardo before the Safety-Car was deployed due to a midpack contact. At the re-start, he suffered from a lack of rear-end grip, as tires struggled to reach their optimal temperature. Guerrieri had then to fend off Lancaster, and when he made it back in cruising mode, Ricciardo was off to a big lead. At that point, the Argentinean settled for a much-deserved podium finish, enough to regain a really valuable third place in standings.

Team-mate Filip Salaquarda suffered from some more issues. After scoring a promising 5th place in Qualifying, the racer from Prague was pushed off by Daniel Zampieri on lap 1. As a result of such dangerous move, Salaquarda had to retire.

Igor Salaquarda - Team Principal
"Once more, we proved that we are standing among the top teams of the championship. Guerrieri drove a fla wless race, and we're looking for ward for more on Race 2. A pity for Filip, who was sent off-track by Zampieri with no reason on lap 1. It's been an extremely dangerous manouver, that could have had some serious consequences."
