Draco Racing gets back to the top-10 at Paul Ricard

After the up-and-down practice sessions of yesterday, Draco Racing was once again left with mixed feelings in Day 2 of the World Series Renault 3.5 championship at Circuit Paul Ricard in Le Castellet. Teams and drivers lined-up again in sensational weather for qualifying 1, before going on-track right after noon for race 1.

Italian racer Luca Ghiotto, who had showed great potential yesterday, completed a neat recovery drive to take 7th place. After an awesome start from the 11th spot on the grid, Ghiotto got one more position back with a great pass on Sørensen, laying solid foundations for qualifying 2 and race 2.

For 22-year-old Brazilian Pietro Fantin, the French weekend of the World Series championship continued to be ill-fated. After the technical issues (independent from the team) experienced yesterday, he was called to an extremely difficult task in qualifying 1. Unfortunately, he was also punted out of the race on the first lap, retiring on the spot.

The Draco Racing Stable is now set to line-up again tomorrow in qualifying 2, which will go underway at 9 AM. Race 2 at 13:00 PM will round out the weekend's schedule.

Luca Ghiotto (Q1: P11 - R1: P7): "The start has been very good. I got two position in the first couple of turns before passing Sorensen and starting to close the gap on the leading pack. The pace was there, but while chasing Stockinger and Merhi I made a little mistake that prevented me from succeeding in the comeback. Anyway, the potential was good in qualifying too, and now it's just matter of putting a good lap together in terms of sectors and single corners".

Pietro Fantin (Q1: P18 - R1: DNF): "I got tagged by another car in turn 9 at the first lap and that was it, I had to retire. It's a pity. In qualifying we were trying to play catch-up due to the fact that we hadn't run yesterday but despite that I pushed really hard to get the best possible starting spot. Unfortunately, we lost more steps today and tomorrow it will be even harder to recover. That said, we're going to do our best and keep trying harder."
