A top-10 qualifying and a Race 2 to forget at Alcaniz

After being back at the pace he had showed in the opening round of the season at Monza, Ghiotto was aiming to score more points.

A really promising Sunday ended up in the worst possible way for Luca Ghiotto at Motorland Aragón. The Italian rookie had scored a brilliant 8th place in qualifying for Race 2 of the World Series Renault 3.5, but things unfortunately didn’t play out in his favor.

Starting from the fourth row, he saw the chance to fight for a good result disappear due to an unfortunate mistake. After being back at the pace he had showed in the opening round of the season at Monza (where he had grabbed a positive fourth-place finish), Ghiotto was aiming to score more points.

As it turned out, as the race was about to get underway, the Draco driver stalled his car. A mistake that the Italian racer took the blame for as the professional he is. His race ended on the spot, with a lot of bitterness for a lost chance. On the other hand, Luca is already looking forward to round three of the series, set in the traditional frame of the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Monaco. On an unknown track for him, Luca will aim for a prompt rebound.

Luca Ghiotto (Q2 P8; R2 DNF): “There isn’t much to say except that I committed a mistake at the start, stalling the car. Luckily I was only slightly hit by one of the cars I had behind. I can’t wait to get back on track for a prompt rebound and I’m satisfied with the improvements in Qualifying. I’m looking forward to race at Monte Carlo”.
