Buemi stripped of Long Beach pole, Abt inherits top spot

Sebastien Buemi has lost his pole position in today’s Long Beach Formula E race, after it was found he exceeded the 200kW power limit in qualifying.

E.dams driver Buemi lost his fastest time from the session, as he made the transgression during his quickest lap. His previous best time, which is allowed to stand, puts him back in 10th on the grid.

Buemi said: “Obviously I’m really disappointed to lose the pole position, but 10th is better than 20th. We will see, we could maybe make the podium – it’s a long race.”

Daniel Abt inherits the pole, his first in the series, and will have points leader Nico Prost, Buemi's teammate, alongside him.

“Being on pole, it’s just amazing,” said Abt. “After a great race in Miami, this is the next step for us.

“Not much has changed, I was starting from the front row anyway, so it’s just the view of the first corner that’s changed.”
