Both the BMS Scuderia Italia and GLV Brums teams plan to run their Ferrari 333 SP sports cars for a further season in the FIA Sportscar Championship, although the 1994 design is showing its age. "The chassis is excellent, the problem is that the 4-litre engine is no longer really competitive" said Giovanni Lavaggi after claiming pole position at Kyalami. "The engine is at the end of its development, but I think we will continue for another year."
Tiziano Minuti, sporting director of BMS Scuderia Italia, says he hopes to keep the entire team intact for the '01 season. "We will continue with the Ferrari chassis and the Ferrari engine, and I hope with the same drivers," he said.
