Trackspeed Lift FIA GT3 Porsche Manufacturer's Cup
Trackspeed Racing tied up the FIA GT3's Porsche Manufacturer's Cup at the final round in Dubai, where they rounded off the season in style with two Porsche class wins.
The three car Trackspeed team saw David Ashburn partnered by Lumina CSV Middle East Champion, Tarek Elgammal in #4. The #5 car saw Richard Williams driving with James Pickford and in #6 George Mackintosh & Jon Simmonds joined forces.
A tough qualifying, Williams/Pickford unable to post a time after a water leak, saw all three Trackspeed Porsches start from the pitlane for Race 1. Williams/Pickford took an excellent Porsche win, with Ashburn/Elgammal the second Porsche home. MacKintosh/Simmonds came home to complete a full house for Trackspeed.
Race 2 was a fittingly dramatic end to the FIA GT3 season. Williams/Pickford again started from the pitlane, with the added woe of a fuel pump failure so they raced on the reserve pump which makes the end result all the more impressive, a second Porsche class win of the weekend. Williams/Pickford had to fight their way up to take the Porsche lead from team-mates Ashburn/Elgammal who recovered from a quick spin after a safety car period to be second Porsche home again. Ensuring Trackspeed finished the year with a Porsche 1-2-3, Mackintosh/Simmonds came home as third Porsche.
The Porsche Manufacturer's Cup marks a happy end to a season which also sees them 4th in the overall FIA GT3 Team Championship and top British Team.
David Ashburn and Ricki Martino of Trackspeed would like to thank all the drivers, team members and partners who have worked with them this year which has seen its share of trials and tribulations but always with a smile!
