A thrilling second place for Andrea Piccini in Brno
This weekend on the Brno race track, an intense race full of excitement took place. Climbing up from the 5th position on the starting grid to the 2nd place, team-mates Andrea Piccini and Jean Deniz Deletraz have not only conquered the second place on the podium but the second place in the classifications as well.
During the morning qualification session on Saturday, Andrea Piccini had the best 5th time which lead him to start in third row.
It was an exciting start but the positions remained the same till later on in the race. During the second hour of the race, Deletraz managed to overtake Seiler's Saleen S7-R and thanks to Kinch's 180° spin on the other Lister, conquered the second place. The second position that Andrea defended from Gollin who was on board the Ferrari 550 Maranello that runs faster on the straights.
Even if the speed of the car wasn't at its top , Andrea Piccini was able to exploit the car and the tires in the best of ways and successfully battled Gollin's attacks. Andrea Piccini finished the race just a decimal away from the Ferrari and with a 3 second advantage from Campbell and Walter's Lister.
"It was a very difficult yet animated race. I'm very satisfied with the second place because we managed to push the car to its limits. The Dunlop tyres performed well and even if the engine of our Lister still hasn't shown all of its potential, the set up of the car was ideal throughout the whole race. Both my team mate Deletraz and I fought with a car that left our adversaries with a slight advantage on the straights. In any case, this problem will be resolved by the next race. I had to use all of my experience to keep the second position and to fight against Gollin's attacks whose car was definitely faster then ours. I managed not to give him the space he needed to overtake me and conquered the second place by just a decimal . This second place really makes me happy and gives me a lot of faith for the next race in Donington where we can be the main protagonists again as long as the engine performs at its top speed."
