THOMAS HYLKEMA LOOKING FORWARD TO FORMULA BMW WORLD FINALS

After his eventful debut year in the German Formula BMW championship Thomas Hylkema is preparing for the Formula BMW World Finals, which will take place from November 23 to 25. Thirty-five young and talented drives from no less than nineteen countries will fight for the grand prize on the Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana Ricardo Tormo (Valencia, Spain): a full test with the BMW Sauber Formula 1 Team. Hylkema will be racing for the German AM- Holzer Rennsport GmbH team.

Exactly one year ago the Dutch driver came into contact with the Formula BMW. To get a good impression of these competitive single-seaters he went to the Formula BMW World Finals at Valencia, where 36 talents from four different Formula BMW championships raced against each other for the title "World Champion Formula BMW". After several talks with among others Eifelland Racing Hylkema started his racing career with this top team. After some tests he made a creditable debut at the Norisring street circuit. The student at the Delft University of Technology (Faculty of Aerospace Engineering) had his ups and downs in the following races. With his combativeness the rookie was able to work himself up into the points in this strong field on several occasions.

Last Friday (November 9) Hylkema tested a Formula BMW again. This time he drove for AM-Holzer Rennsport at the Hockenheim circuit. He concluded a successful one-day test. After some technical difficulities were resolved in the morning, he set fast lap times after the lunch break. Hylkema is looking forward to the Formula BMW World Finals with a lot of confidence.

THOMAS HYLKEMA: "It is super to take part in this event. A year ago I got in contact with this series and now I am part of it myself. My goal has been reached when I have the feeling that I made the best of it. I will only be satisfied when I am able to get a good result. After a year in which I have learned a lot in quite a short period, I hope to convert my experiences into a good result. These races are stand-alones, where the best drivers of all Formula BMW championships meet up. For 2008 all options are still open. I can not wait to travel to Valencia!"
