Canadian joins 2005 championship winners, Team Autotecnica for World Finals

HAMILTON, ONTARIO Cameron Motorsports lead driver Robert Wickens will participate in the inaugural Formula BMW World Finals in Bahrain on December 13-16. Wickens, who received an invitation from BMW to compete, will drive for the 2005 FBMW USA championship winning team, Team Autotecnica. Wickens is the highest point getter in the 2006 FBMW USA championship to head to Bahrain.

Wickens is obviously thrilled with the opportunity to compete against 33 other drivers from 15 nations to determine the 2005 Formula BMW World Champion. He is also one of only two Canadians that will contest the World Finals. "I couldn't be happier with the way this has worked out," Wickens said. "Everyone from Cameron Motorsports and Team Autotecnica has been just great. I am really looking forward to Bahrain, and I am sure we can get a good result for Cameron Motorsports and Team Autotecnica.

This is the first time that there has been a Formula BMW World Finals, and the winner will be given a Formula 1 test with the newly formed BMW team. In addition there is over $60,000 up for grabs in prize money and Wickens is confident he is going with a very good opportunity to win. "Our package for Bahrain is sure to be one of the most competitive at the event. We are going to get in a few test days before going, so we should be quick as soon as we hit the track in Bahrain."
