Having endured a character building weekend, Canadian driver Philip Major gathered his thoughts, honed his skills and delivered a sublime performance in round 10 of the Formula BMW USA championship.

The unforgiving San José street track is the perfect venue on which to display a driver's ability in a svelte and nimble racecar. The slightest mistake will be heavily penalized against the concrete barriers, so it is the drivers with supreme finesse behind the wheel who truly excel on them.

For 25 intense laps Major remained inch perfect between the walls, all the while picking-off his rivals in a series of great overtaking maneuvers.

"We made the car a little bit stiffer so I could lean on it a bit more and it sure helped when we got going." Said Major. "Overtaking is tricky here but I was able to make my moves stick."

Such was his pace that the Ottawa teen had gained an incredible nine places by the fall of the checkered flag, more than any other driver, bar one.

"After yesterday I really wanted to finish this race so I didn't take as many risks as I could," the young Canadian said, "but I drove hard, I made up a bunch of spots and I can go to Denver knowing how to handle a street track."

The FBMWUSA championship moves on to Denver for rounds 11 & 12 on August 12-13th
