Formula BMW USA Driver Philip Major Races Hard In Denver
Philip Major's fine race backs up his great charity work for Food Bank of Denver.
Denver, C0 - It was possibly the most intense Formula BMWUSA this year, and Philip Major was in the thick of the action throughout. Not only was the racing close fought, wheel-to-wheel stuff, but there was no let up for the drivers in the shape of caution periods, which would allow the 24 competitors a lap or two to rest up.
"That was a crazy race! you could see how tired everyone was getting by the end." Said Major. "When they get tired you see them missing apexes and making mistakes."
Luckily for the Ottawa driver, the hours of physical training he undertakes away from the track keep him in peak shape, so he was able to keep his concentration and reaction levels at an optimum, and with these reserves of strength he drove superbly to pick up four places by flag- fall, ensuring 15th place was his.
Major has also been busy with other activities over the weekend, notably helping local charity the Food Bank of the Rockies in collecting memorabilia items for their upcoming charity auction on August 23rd.
"People have been remarkable this weekend," Major commented of the many pieces that have been donated by teams and drivers, "we have signed clothing and car parts from the Champ Car teams, the Atlantic guys, and of course us at FBMW. I hope that everyone bids for these very collectable things and that Food Bank of Denver can raise as much as possible. You know, I'm tempted to bid on half of it myself!"
The FBMWUSA championship finale races will take place at Canada's Mosport Park on September 1-3rd.
