Pelletier in Top Ten for maiden Formula BMW USA race

Lime Rock, May 28, 2006. -- Formula BMW USA Junior scholar Maxime Pelletier took eighth place in the first race of the Lime Rock double header. The 15-year old started from fifteenth place on the grid and moved his way up seven positions to score a few points in the overall standings and now stands in fourth place among the rookie drivers. The race was checkered under a full course yellow and Pelletier felt he could have finished higher.

"I think the work between my driver coach Claude Bourbonnais, my crew chief Marco Tischer and myself is really paying off. The first qualifying session was called off because the weather conditions were awful in Lime Rock and I had to start according to the season standings (15th). But my #11 Western Union car was really strong and I enjoyed overtaking in the first laps. The race was slowed down with a few yellow situations and I could have moved up a few more positions but I'm happy with the results and I am very confident my second race will even be better. I qualified in fifth and I have the feeling I can step on the podium this time. I will have to be careful on the first laps buy I know it's possible."

The start for the second race of the Lime Rock weekend will take place Monday at 1:10 PM, as part of the Memorial weekend at the New England facility.
