Pelletier in Top Ten for maiden Formula BMW USA race

Mid-Ohio, May 21, 2006. -- Formula BMW USA Junior scholar Maxime Pelletier took tenth place overall in his first professional race as part of the first series double header weekend at the Mid-Ohio race track. Pelletier started from 12th place and move up a few positions before the race was slowed down by a full-course yellow on the 13th lap and cars could not restart until the checker flag. After struggling for grip in qualifying, Pelletier had to settle for 6th row on the starting grid, quite a distance from the Top Five he made on test day last Thursday. Pelletier will start the second race on Sunday from 18th place and hopes he can finish again in a point scoring top spot.

"In the qualifying sessions, my car had very little grip, said the 15-year old. It explains why I am so far from my expected starting position according to what I did in the test days here and before. I have sat dowm with my driver coach Claude Bourbonnais and my crew chief Marco Tischer and we have ironed out little details that will give me more handling for the second race. I think I can come back in the Top Ten with the work we have done."

The #11 Western Union car will be revised after Pelletier touched wheels with another car in a passing situation in the race just before the race was slowed down. Race will start just around 10:35 AM under rain conditions.
