Montreal, Quebec, Canada -- June 23, 2006.- Formula BMW USA's round 1 and 2 polesitter, 17 year old Mexican David Garza of EuroInternational Team, was back to his early qualifying form and will start fourth in round 5 and eighth in round 6 races after recording 1:46.235 and 1:46.722 for his best 2 laps and fastest among the rookie drivers.
Garza's regular Formula BMW USA teammate Simona de Silvestro will start fifth in Round 5 and fourth in Round 6, to score her third and fourth top-five start of the year.
Both will do their best to follow their Formula BMW Germany counterpart and also , EuroInternational's driver Stefano Coletti, who got off to the fastest start of the 29 competitors entered in the four Formula BMW USA rounds included in support of the Canadian and United States Grand Prixes.
The 17-year old from Monte Carlo, Monaco established a new Formula BMW USA qualifying record in scoring the pole position for both Rounds 5 and 6 of the 2006 championship today at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada, with a 1:44.987 minute lap around the 2.709-mile track setting a new track record and taking the Round 5 pole, his second fastest lap of 1:45.365 minutes was good for the Round 6 pole.
As David was completing his second fastest qualifying lap equaling his fourth place time, a red flag appeared before crossing the finish line, leaving him with his earlier second fastaest lap which was good for the eighth starting position for the round 6 race.
"The car has a good setting and I hope we'll use the Saturday's race experience to be able to finish among the top 5 for the Sunday race, both will be run early in the morning, but it's fantastic to be part of the GP2 and F-1 world, I'll do my best to bring good news to my fans in Monterrey and gain experience looking for a win", said Garza.
Championship points leader Robert Wickens (Team Apex Racing USA) will line up next to Coletti in both races after recording laps of 1:45.556 and 1:45.629 minutes. It was the best qualifying effort of the season for the 17-year old from Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Round 4 winner Matt Lee (Team Autotecnica) will start third in both races.
Last year's polesitter Tobias Hegewald (Mosquito Motorsports), also making a guest appearance in Formula BMW USA for the four Rounds in support of Formula One, will start sixth in Round 5 and fifth in Round 6.
The fastest Rookies in Round 5 & 6 qualifying were David Garza (P4), Jordan Dick (P9), Daniel Morad (P12), Maxime Pelletier (P18) and Joel Jackson (P20).
The Round 5 race is scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow morning and the Round 6 contest is scheduled to start at 9:15 a.m. Sunday.
