Kevin Lacroix fit for altitude
St-Eustache, Quebec, August 11. -- Leader of the Formula BMW USA since the very first round in April, Kevin Lacroix will be fit for the Mile-High altitude when he takes to the track Friday morning for a long one-hour practice session. The 16-year old Canadian traveled earlier to Denver in order to carry a special fitness program for high altitude. Come Friday morning, he will be ready for action.
"Denver is located in high altitude, says Kevin. If my UniSelect car can adapt to less air on this track, it's not the same for me. I traveled to Denver a few days ahead to train in altitude and get by body used to the lack of oxygen in this area. We start Friday morning with a 60-minute practice and I want to stay fit for all the session. Denver is a short and twisty track with concrete all around and our practice and qualifying sessions will be all the more important, because passing may be a problem with the FB2 machine."
Technical director, Yvan Turcotte
Kevin took a moment to talk about Yvan Turcotte, his engineer and technical director. "Yvan is a tremendous asset to our team, says Lacroix. He's been working on the car since day one. He knows this machine inside out and has always given me a strong car all season. It's true we work as a team with AIM Motorsport and engineer Keith Willis, but Yvan deserves a lot of credit. On some occasions, he came up with setup solutions that made a big difference."
On the Denver urban facility, he added: "This is the only time we face a street course in the season. I will have to learn as much as possible on this 1.647 mile 9-turn twister and I'm sure our team will have the right solutions."
Named the Rising Star among kart drivers, Kevin Lacroix is a 2005 Formula BMW USA scholar, the best entry level professional racing series in America, Europe and Asia.
