Welcome Richard Spenard!
Atlantic Racing Team (www.atlanticracingteam.com) is in the midst of testing their 17-year old ex-Honda Series driver, Canadian Philip Major of Ottawa, Ontario (www.majorspeed.com). This youngster has already proven his ability to go fast, as all the tests were within or better than recent track times established by some of the more experienced competitors, still with room to learn for him.
Now A.R.T. can, with pride and enthusiasm, today announce the full time addition of no less than Mr. Richard Spenard. Richard, with his vast experience in successful racing and in coaching drivers like Jacques Villeneuve, amongst other now prominent racers, will be an addition unprecedented in the history of Atlantic Racing Team. Richard's main focus will be the coaching and advancement of Philip's performance and future driving career.
"I am sure Richard will also leave a mark on the total team, his experience and network of people, his talent as an accomplished driver and his personality in itself is such a winning combination for A.R.T.," says Ingo Strackerjan, team manager. "We just cannot wait for the first race to show what a small team from Nova Scotia can do and the impact we create. Even without any real support from Atlantic Canada we have weathered many storms - Series and drivers - but believe that we now have found the sometimes so elusive right combination. I have known Richard for a long time now, as a competitor and saw him coaching his drivers with a style and knowledge, which is very rare indeed these days. All I can say for now to him is a heartfelt " welcome to A.R.T.and thank you " to take on this challenge."
Atlantic Racing Team committed all their efforts, as one of the first teams to join in 2004, to the then new Formula BMW USA Series after having participated in various open wheel development series. Atlantic's main objective is giving young drivers the opportunity to develop their abilities and show them to a broader spectator and media base.
Well-connected and established relationships with European teams, promoters and managers alike will assure these young drivers a chance to leave their mark not only in the North American market but also in Europe, possible home of their racing future. Noack Motorsport of Germany, having laid the foundation for the success of drivers like Michael and Ralf Schumacher in the early 1990's and, more recently, Tobias Vettel amongst others, is now involved in Atlantic Racing Team's quest to produce open wheel talents for European teams. With the formation of Mosquito Motorsport, a joint-team venture, more European drivers will come to North America while opportunities are now better and less costly for North American drivers to go to a European racing venue.
Atlantic Racing and Mosquito Motorsport will pursue success over the next years at various open-wheel series in North America and Europe with driver talents from within the teams. For more information a special website is now being produced and will be on the internet within a short time.
