Action packed round 3 for Alexander Rossi and the Formula BMWUSA championship

Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Montréal, Canada - Alexander Rossi was very much in the thick of the action in round three of the Formula BMWUSA championship. The thrilling race elicited roars of approval from the grandstands as the crowd was treated to a great race.

Rossi was fired-up and after being out-dragged at the start he was already making moves by the end of the opening lap - running around the outside of the final chicane and crossing the line in sixth position.

Sixth became fifth on lap five when the car in front was black-flagged, but Rossi had no time to celebrate his good fortune because he had another driver breathing down his neck.

Tooth and nail they fought for a couple of laps, thrilling the crowd as they diced wheel-to-wheel but contact was made at the hairpin and Rossi dropped to seventh. Ever the gentleman, Rossi paid tribute to his competitor. "It was just a racing incident, but he was driving a great race and he had the fastest car out there." Alexander said of his rival.

Despite his fearsome pace, Rossi was fighting massive oversteer and after the contact his car become a real handful. Two laps later the Californian put a move on another car into the chicane on the backstretch but his speed was so great that combined with the oversteer it suddenly snapped sideways, looped around and planted him in the wall.

"It was extremely loose mid-corner to exit, and I was doing everything I could to keep it at bay but it just got away from me and that was the end of it." Said a despondent Rossi after the race, adding philosophically; "I was driving hard, giving it my all, but you know sometimes it just doesn't work out the way you'd hoped, and today was one of those days."

"I hope tomorrow isn't like that. Starting eighth I have some work to do, but I'm just going to try and put on a good show." Round four takes place tomorrow morning, just before the Formula 1 Grand Prix.
