Team Autotecnica went into Round 17, with a strategy to bring home the 2008 Rookie Championship Title with the incredible efforts of the entire team. Enrico Diano, co-owner and Motorsport Director added "Given our current position going into this race weekend, we couldn't have asked for better results, coming home with the Formula BMW Americas 2008 Rookie Championship Title was a real testament to our efforts last year having achieved the same goal with former Formula BMW Americas driver Esteban Gutierrez. We're all proud of Gianmarco who has come a long way this season to achieve this goal. We will celebrate briefly because now we have to look forward to placing our cars at the front of the grid for the World Final in Mexico City."
Sunday's race (Round 17), also marked the Team's bid to promote the revival of the Canadian Grand Prix for 2009 and future years. Team Autotecnica's race livery donned the "REVIVE CANADIAN GP" logos on the side pods of both cars, and the Team wore commemorative team shirts promoting to Formula One Management, the hopeful return of the Canadian race. With the close of the Formula One World Championship, Formula One fans are keeping their fingers crossed for the strong possibilities of the return of the Canadian event.
