Formula BMW Americas rookie David Ostella now has his open-wheel career underway as the Series had its first Official test session at Virginia International Raceway a week ago. After enduring the opening day in changing conditions and posting the seventh-quickest time, Ostella proved much more in dry runs on Sunday when he was the quickest rookie in the field. His final session time of 1:08.960 seconds was third quick outright, and completed a EuroInternational sweep of the top three positions.

"The first day it was raining on-and-off all day but it was good seat time in the car and good to get used to the wet conditions," the young Canadian said in recalling the test. "Then on Sunday it was a wet track at first, but it started to dry up really fast. When I went out I was not far off the top guys, then in the last session I was my quickest of all and less than a half-second off P1. With that, the first official test was great!"

Formula BMW Americas testing resumes April 25th at Miller Motorsports Park in Utah, running on the car track as the Snap-on Stars of Karting Championship visits the kart track for the West Division opener. The second straight conflict will eliminate Ostella from running a Stars program, but he has the option to begin a karting title chase in Canada May 9th as the newly formed Ontario Regional Karting Championship begins at Goodwood Kartways.
