First retirement for Facu Regalia

Facu Regalia retired during the first race of the Hockenheim Formula BMW Europe weekend. After starting from the back of the grid he saw his recovering ending tears with a collision with Sainz Jr.

The Spanish-Argentinean driver didn't have any luck in today's race. He started from the thirteenth position of the grid, after a hard qualifying yesterday. The weather inconsistence prevented him of showing is true potential and he had to start from the seventh row. Today, in a damp but drying track, he reacted very well to the lights and after the first lap he was already eleventh.

"I started very well, one of my best starts this season, but the track was very difficult, as we were on slick tyres, but the circuit still had wet places. I started to get more confidence as the race progressed and overtook George Katsinis and Petri Suvanto, and from the fourth lap onward I was faster than the drivers in front of me" said the eighteen years old driver.

Facu Regalia was on the back of Carlos Sainz Jr and he was looking for a good way of getting another place. The Eifelland Racing driver dived on the inside of his opponent, but the driver from Madrid slammed the door. "I was on the inside, when he closed the door. It was a gentle collision, but enough to damage my car's direction and to send me to the retirement in the sixth lap. This is racing, at least I can say I gave my best and I was recovering some places", said the youngster after his short race.

The second race of the weekend will start tomorrow at 8h30m, and it will have thirteen laps.
