Facu Regalia is 7th in a hard race

Facu Regalia ended the first race of the season, held today at Circuit de Catalunya, in the seventh place, after a difficult start.

The Spanish-Argentinean driver had very good qualifying yesterday, but today, when he lined up for the race, he found is side of the track very wet, after last night rain. On the other side of the road there was a dry line, something that would make his start very hard.

As soon as the lights were off, the cars on his side were overtaken by the cars on his left, and from then on, the only thing that Facu Regalia could do was trying to recover as much as he could: "it was very bad luck. I reacted well to the lights, but I could do nothing to prevent the cars that were in the dry line from overtaking me. Besides, in the braking area for the first corner, I had to lift off to avoid a crash with Robin Frijns, who was closing my line when I was already in the inside".

In these conditions, the young driver was ninth in the end of the first lap and his plans to reach the podium fell apart. "In the race I was the fastest in some sectors, but it was hard to overtake the slower cars. The car understeered badly when I was in the wake of the drivers in front of me and it was a big risk to try to overtake them. So I preferred to assure that I would see the chequered flag and to score some points", explain the Eifelland Racing driver, who crossed the finish line in the seventh position, the best of the ones who started in the wet side of the track.

For the second race of the weekend, that will be held tomorrow at 8.30 (Spanish time), the Spanish-Argentinean driver will start from third, a position that gives him good shot of a good result: "it looks like it will be dry, and I'll be in the clean side of the track, so I hope I can, at least, fight for a podium and put behind today's bad luck".
