GU-RACING TEAM at Nürburgring: Weather-Chaos and accidents versus success.

Max Wissel celedrated the once success for GU-RACING. Jens Höing with disqualification and accident more than unhappy. Entry from Latvian Otto Birznieks with a good performance at his first Formula BMW race-weekend. Carlos Gaitan not happy with his results. GU-RACING raced heat 13 and 14 of the Formula BMW with Max Wissel (D), Jens Höing (D), Carlos Gaitan (COL) and Otto Birznieks (LAT).

Race 1

After a qualifying with difficult weather conditions the GU-RACING drivers went into the Saturday-race from position 6 for Wissel, 13 for Höing, 19 for Gaitan - and 21 for our newcomer Otto Birznieks.

All GU-RACING drivers started with slicks into the race when there was a heavy rain before. Wissel and Höing started nice and they came back from lap 1 on position 6 and 10. The first 3 drivers went away of the field at the first laps - both, Wissel and Höing were in the following group at this time.

A very hard race was it for Gaitan and Birznieks. Both were in trouble by following the midfield: "I am not happy with the race here. At no time it was perfect for me that I came into a drive.", so Colombian Carlos Gaitan about his final position 19, when Otto Birznieks nor finished his first Formula BMW race - P21.

Disappointing was also the race-end for Jens Höing after a nice catching up before. The Berlin was taken out of the race and disqualified by the race- direction two laps before the finish. "This decision is not ok. They said Jens shorted the track, but if he didn't do this - he crashed with the other driver.", commented Teammanager Günther Unterreitmeier the good result for Jens which was taken away with it. One highlight: Max Wissel could improve in the last laps to position 4 and saved important points for GU-RACIING.

Race 2

The second race should become a total knock-out for GU-RACING. Max Wissel went into the race from position 6 again which he hold at the start. But still in the fist laps another driver hit the rear of Max Formula BMW. He destroyed Max tyres with it what means the out for the German at the beginning. Not better was it for Jens Höing. After his disqualification from Saturday Jens was still angry. He overtook some drivers at the start when he was on P9. By attacking the Eight Jens and the other Formula BMW touched each other and both of them slides out into the grass. Jens Höing felt back to the end of the field and the race was just good for place 15 for him at the finish after 14 laps.

Other problems had Carlos Gaitan. The Colombian had problems with his car that he wasn't able to go the pace of the group in front of him. Finally he finished 17 at the difficult track. But also our Rookie - Latvian Otto Birznieks - expected a little bit more from the weekend. Nevertheless Otto finished his second race as well, P20 for the pupil on Sunday: "The level here is really high. I hope to get a feeling for the car more and more and to progress at Barcelona."

Teammanager Günther Unterreitmeier: "Nothing to say today!", this the statement of a frustrated GU-RACING Teammanager who hoped for more luck to his team at the Nürburgring.
