Chris van der Drift finishes Formula BMW ADAC season in style!

HOCKENHEIM, OCTOBER 23 2005 -- By finishing in sixth position on Saturday and in fourth position today, Chris van der Drift enjoyed a worthy end of his second Formula BMW ADAC season at the 4.574 kilometer long Hockenheimring. By finishing five times on the podium this year, including one victory at Spa-Francorchamps, Van der Drift scored 147 points in total which hands him fourth position in the final championship standings!

QUALIFYING
An impressive performance in the Free Practise and Qualifying sessions brought smiles on the faces of all team Rosberg teammembers on Friday. After Van der Drift had already grabbed P3 in the Free Practise session, the Dutch New-Zealander also showed his qualities in Qualifying by taking sixth and fourth spot, his best Formula BMW ADAC qualifying result this season.

CHRIS VAN DER DRIFT: "I'm happy things went according to plan today. The car felt good all day, but in the first qualifying session (P6) I didn't manage to combine my quickest sectortimes in one lap. In the break we finetuned the car and as the track got faster so did my car. Things look bright for the remaining days!"

RACE 01 + 02
A stunning start of the first race on Saturday afternoon sees Van der Drift move up to second position in only two laps time at a wet and slippery Hockenheimring. As his team expected the track to dry up more quickly, Vandy's tyre pressure was set-up for this. During and after a short safety-car phase, Kiwi struggled to keep the temperature in his tyres and due to the lack of grip had to settle for sixth position. The season finisher on Sundaymorning brought a comparable story for Van der Drift. By again enjoying a perfect start, the young inhabitant of Zevenhuizen (NED) closely chased Martin Ragginger for second position for almost half the race. Heavy tyrewear in the closing stages of the 11 lap race however, forced Van der Drift to be content with finishing in fourth position.

CHRIS VAN DER DRIFT: "It's a pity I co uldn't end my season with a podiumfinish once again after we've been very competitive all weekend. The chance we took on the tyrepressure on Saturday unfortunately didn't work out as we hoped and today I think I might have charged too hard in the first few laps. Unless we experienced some difficulties this season I'm happy to finish fourth in the championship. After having raced for Team Rosberg for two years, it's now time to take the next step in my career. Thanks to everyone in the team for giving me a great time!"
