The Nordic racing team suffered a severe set back to their quest for points in qualifying for the sixth round race of the FIA F3000 International Championship at Magny-Cours, France. Despite a very promising two day test in Austria earlier this month, Nordic drivers Justin Wilson and Kevin McGarrity both experienced difficulties in qualifying, resulting in grid places of 13th and 24th respectively.

JUSTIN WILSON. 13th Position. 1:27.790

"This is not what we expected. After the test in Austria two weeks ago, we thought that we would be ready for qualifying here in France, but to be honest, we went the wrong way with the set-up of the car. Then, to make matters worse, the traffic out here today was very heavy, but that was the same for everyone I suppose. As the two sessions wore on we made more and more little changes to the car and the speed started to come, and if you look at the times, well, it's very close between all the top half of the grid."

KEVIN McGARRITY. 24th Position. 1:28.297.

"A bad day for me today, as having finished in the points at Monaco, I now find myself stuck on the grid in 24th place. I went the wrong way with my set-up and the car was basically too stiff to drive. I could mention all the traffic, but I think must of us suffered problems with it today, although I must admit that I seemed to find it at every turn. It is a long race, so I shall have plenty of time to work my way up."

CHRIS MOWER. Team Manager.

"A little disapointed would be a fair comment, although the time sheets do not tell the real story of qualifying today. Justin, for example, found himself held up by traffic at the end of a flying lap near the end of the second session that was guaranteed to secure him seventh place. As long as he can make a clean start tomorrow, then I have every confidence in Justin working his way up the order. Kevin, like Justin, struggled with his qualifying set-up and traffic, but the team shall be working late into the night to get his car ready for the race on Saturday. Although starting from 24th place on the grid, we are sure that Kevin can make some places up with the changes that we are going to make to his car, as long as he manages to keep out of trouble at the race strat. We came here to score some more points and whatever our grid positions are, we must still keep focussed on the task."
