Swindon, UK, Wednesday 23rd October 2002: Brand Motorsports has today announced the purchase of the highly successful Red Bull Formula 3000 racing team, one of the leading contenders in the International F3000 Championship. The acquisition of the Austrian based team, whose drivers have included Juan-Pablo Montoya and Enrique Bernoldi, provides Brand with a platform from which to demonstrate its racing and technical expertise to a worldwide audience. Brand Motorsports is a sister company to the Huntingdon-based telecommunications success story Brand Communications Ltd, a global leader in mobile data and remote access technology. The Company intends to utilise its technical and communications excellence alongside its marketing strengths to ensure the success of the team both on and off the track. Situated in Swindon, England, the team will benefit from state-of-the-art premises where the facilities occupy 12,000sq ft and include conference and entertainment suites along with two floors of offices. Whilst Brand Motorsports will be considered the new kids on the block, the ambitions of its owner Martin Kendrick are very specific; to race at the front of the field and win. The infrastructure reflects these ambitions; impressive workshops and key engineering personnel with F1 and F3000 credentials. Further high calibre personnel will be joining the team over the coming months and announcements of top class drivers and global sponsors will follow.
Martin Kendrick, Owner and Team Principal: "This is a new and very exciting development for Brand Motorsports. We identified top line motorsport within our development plans and evaluated all different forms before deciding that International F3000 provided the best strategic fit. We believe that the future of F3000 is healthy and are encouraged by the positive thinking within the Championship and its close links with Formula One." "Brand Communications is an acknowledged global centre of excellence in mobile data. Our philosophy is based upon leading the way in all areas of our business and that includes motor racing." "We had considered building a team from new but the Red Bull set--up is first rate in terms of its equipment and potential."
Don Weston-Rapér, Race Director: "We can now begin the process of preparing the cars to compete at the front of the field in the International F3000 Championship. We have the knowledge and experience to provide a formidable challenge and are already in the process of further strengthening our in-house expertise." "The success of Brand is built on a strong marketing focus and delivering real value. We shall transfer this to our motorsport programme for the benefit of the team and our sponsor partners." "Our infrastructure of facilities, personnel and technical knowledge is more advanced than the very best in F3000 and we will be a serious contender next year." -brandmotorsports-
