Goal reached:

Ricardo Sperafico is the vice-champion of F.I.A. Formula 3000 International thanks to the brilliant third place taken by Coloni's Brazilian in the tenth and last date of 2003, Italian Grand Prix at Monza!

Ricardo always lapped among the leaders and, thanks to Coloni single-seater qualities and to the clever pit stop strategy developed by the team, the Brazilian completed the race third, earning the precious points which gave him second place in drivers' standings.

This result is fruit of the excellent performances of Ricardo in the whole season, with the wonderful wins at A1-Ring and Hockenheim and many "noble" results, which confirms Coloni Motorsport as one of the top teams in F.I.A. F.3000 International.

A good try from rookie Christian Montanari too: the young driver of San Marino drove a race without mistakes, very important for a driver for the first time in F.3000, and finished ninth. Christian's result must be highlighted, considering that the Italian Grand Prix was one of the hardest races of the season, with few cars "safe and sound" under the chequered flag.

Coloni Motorsport wants to thank Lola, Zytek, Avon, Motul and above all his sponsors, especially Sicily, which allowed the Italian team to reach the ambitious targets of 2003. A special thank then to the Press which has been following carefully the F.3000 Championship.

For the Italian team the season is not over yet: in fact the efforts of the squad will focus now on the ongoing Italian Formula 3 Championship.

Ricardo Sperafico, 3rd :

"It wasn't an easy race. At the start I had some problems, I skidded, but was essential surviving the first chicane. I immediately tried to pass Van Hooydonk at Parabolica, but we collided slightly and my front wing got damaged, causing me some understeer. But on the second lap I passed him and, thanks to a very good pit stop, I went back on track third, close to Friesacher. As soon as my team told me that Pantano was out, I was calmer and I could finish third. Vice-champion title is a great result and I want to thank all my team that supported me in this chase".

Christian Montanari, 9th :

"All in all, the race was good. After an uncertainty at the start I began to push and lap quickly, the car was ok and without two 'oversights' I could have done better. However I'm happy, this first experience in F.3000 was exciting and very useful".

Paolo Coloni, Team Principal:

"I'm very happy with the result obtained by the entire squad, which allowed us to reach the second place in drivers' standings with Ricardo. It was a season rich of satisfactions and having missed the maximum goal is the suggestion that will make us think about the aspects to improve. I'm also glad to have seen both the teams, Coloni and Red Bull, completing pit stops in really good times and then I want to thank mechanics and engineers who made possible this successful adventure. Thanks also to our drivers, Ricardo, Zsolt and Christian, who showed throughout the season not only good driving skills but also a great professionalism".
