Monza (I) -- 10th September '03
Coloni Motorsport, considering the commitments of his driver Zsolt Baumgartner with JordanF1 (Zsolt participated yet as official driver in the Hungarian Gp and in the Monza test last week), will line up in the next race of F.I.A. F3000 International at Monza Christian Montanari, San Marino Republic driver of Coloni Motorsport in the Italian F3 Championship and winner of the Mugello race with the Lola-Dome F106 Mugen-Honda.
Italian Grand Prix will be an important chance for Christian Montanari and for Coloni Motorsport: one of the two drivers of the Formula 3-program will make his debut in the most prestigious race of the Championship.
The last race of the season will allow the San Marino driver to increase his technical and physical preparation, gathering experience in a demanding and selective championship, and all that will be very important also for the end of the Italian F3 Championship.
Coloni's Formula 3-program was developed to select and help the young Italian talents and Montanari's participation in the Monza appointment is the happy achievement of this target.
Monza will be a decisive race also for Ricardo Sperafico: the BMW-WilliamsF1 tester is in the middle of the fight for the second place in drivers' standings and the team is confident in sight of the race. Italian Grand Prix gave always good results both to Ricardo and Coloni Motorsport: in 2002 in fact, Coloni Motorsport conquered here the vice-champion title with Giorgio Pantano. Besides, the team prepared himself with an intense testing session in Magione, where drivers and mechanics simulated many pit stops too.
Christian Montanari, driver: "This is certainly an excellent chance, I brought forward my F3000 International entry. I hope to drive a good race and to gather precious experience, maybe getting also a good result that could help Coloni Motorsport in the teams' standings. Being the first driver of San Marino in F3000 is a great satisfaction for me".
Paolo Coloni, Team Principal: "It's a big satisfaction for us bringing in F3000 a driver like Christian. I know that won't be an easy debut, also because Christian was called only in the last hours but I'm sure that his driving skills and the quality of our F3-program will allow us to get a good outcome here".
