The fifth round of the International Formula 3000 Championship was held this weekend in Monte Carlo, PSM Racingline in there first year of Formula 3000 competition endured a difficult debut at the most prestigious circuit on the calendar.

QUALIFYING

Nicolas and Tony made there debut's on the demanding Grand Prix course here in Monaco, securing 17th and 20th position respectively. Nicolas was unlucky to loose the last twelve minutes of running in the first session, due to a complete electric failure when the battery dead shorted. This was the only problem either driver experienced.

Nicolas commented The circuit is very exciting, it is a challenge everywhere and the sensation of speed you get is awesome. I learnt a lot about the circuit today. We made a small mistake on set up for the second session but I am quite happy with the my performance as , although we did not gain any positions we found a lot of time and have a car which I think will be good for the race.

RACE.

Tony Schmidt was unfortunate not to make the start of the race having a small off during a warm up lap. Tony commented As we had qualified at the back of the grid, we made a lot of changes to the set up for the race and I needed to test these in the warm up lap's, sadly the car got away from me on a kerb and that was it. There was no way to get it back or anytime to repair it before the start of the race.

From the start of the race Nicolas was immediately on it and gaining places in the first laps and then from the attrition of other drivers. As the race settled down Nicolas was lapping very quickly in 10th position. Pushing very hard Nicolas brushed the wall on several occasion - essential to make a quick lap time in Monaco - before crashing at the first corner on lap 28 (which had also claimed third placed Toccacelo a few laps later).

Nicolas Commented My car was awesome today I could really push, especially as the fuel load came down, I gained places and was looking hard at getting into the points - then I had a huge oversteer on the last corner and brushed the barrier. After that the car was still quick but the geometries where definitely not right. Then at Ste Devote I lost the back end and spun in to the barrier on the exit, we can not be sure if something broke or if it just got away from me but it was a shame as with so few cars making the finish we could have got our first points for the year.

Siegfired Mueller Team Principal Our Monaco debut was not the best, every body worked very hard and we did not see a result for this effort. Tony was very unfortunate, but as we have so little track time he had to push on his warm up laps and he lost the car. Nicolas drove a great race pushing like crazy and then lost the car which was obviously difficult to drive after his first brush with the wall. But as usual we have gained valuable experience and this will help us later in the year.
