FIA International Formula 3000
Round 5 - Monaco
25th May 2002

After qualifying yesterday morning, both Antonio Pizzonia and Ricardo Sperafico were a little disappointed with their grid positions of eighth and tenth and were hoping to gain some places and keep clear of any incidents at the start. When the race started in hot and sunny conditions in Monaco both drivers got away cleanly and drove an excellent race avoiding the many accidents and gradually moving up the field to finish in the points. Antonio crossed the line in fourth place just ahead of Ricardo in fifth. It is a great result for the team having both drivers finishing in the points in a race where only eight drivers finished. Sebastien Bourdais led from pole position to win today's race ahead of Friesacher and Enge.

Antonio Pizzonia P4

"I did better than I expected really. Starting from the back is always difficult here but I still overtook three cars, which is good, as overtaking is quite difficult here. I'm pleased but now we need to start winning."

Ricardo Sperafico P5

"It is the same thing as last year, we start to make points in Monaco. The race was very tiring and during the middle of the race I just tried to keep the car on the track and finish in the points. I had a good start and I overtook both Arden cars but the first corner is very tight but I had a little luck. Now I look forward to Nurburgring, I hope I will be able to get a podium there."

Team Manager - Paul Jackson

"As we suspected in qualifying we had a good speed around here and if we hadn't had the problems we would have qualified further up but our pace in the race was very good and both drivers drove very well to keep out of trouble and pick up some valuable points. We will now be working hard to maintain our pace for the coming races."
