Barcelona, 29th August 2000- It has been his first season in the F-3000 FIA and as a newcomer, Fernando Alonso has done all his best in this category. He has reached 17 points in the all F-3000 season that finished last Saturday at Spa-Francorchamps circuit, and he has also become the youngest driver who has won a race in the F-3000 championship. The F-3000 is considered to be the immediately previous step to Formula One and the young Asturian driver has beaten all the records. It has to remember that he has the only Spaniard who has compete in this championship. The balance of his season might haven¹t been better, a 6th position in Austria, 2nd in Hungary and his last top result 1st in Spa-Francorchamps. So, it not strange that because of his good progression, up to now, Fernando Alonso is an oficial Formula One test driver in the Minardi Team.
