Weather: Cool, cloudy.
The 15-minute warm up session was relatively calm for once, with only Olivier Pla (ASM) and Simon Abadie (Serge Saulnier) getting into serious trouble. Pla was the first offender, going off in a relatively small way. Abadie, on the other hand, managed to get his car most of the way to the top of the very steeply raked gravel trap at Scheivlak, which put an end to his warm up (and was quite an impressive feat into the bargain, given that his tyre track seemed to go in the opposite direction to start with). Otherwise things were pretty much as you would have expected given the practice form, James Courtney (Carlin Motorsport) showing particularly well, given that he did not qualify as far up as might have been expected. He was complaining of a headache on Saturday, so maybe his recovery was not as far advanced as he would have liked to think. Whatever the case, he seemed much better for having had a good night's sleep and was impressively quick on Sunday morning.
