Ralt Engineering has completed the first half of a successful test in Brazil with Nelsinho Piquet driving its F302 Formula 3 car. The five day test - from the 14th to the 18th November - was held at the Circuit Autodromo Internacional Nelson Piquet in Brasilia, which is named after Nelsinho's father.

The Ralt personnel who flew to Brazil to oversee the test are now back in the UK collecting new parts that were not ready for the initial test, and are due back in Brazil by the end of the week.

Nelsinho completed nearly 600 kilometres at the five and a half kilometre long track, which has an average speed of about 180 km/h. Ralt's Steve Ward commented before going back to Brazil: "It was a great opportunity for us to show just what the car could do and, while I know they were impressed with the car, we were very impressed with them. Nelsinho is a very good driver and Nelson a great host. We were able to have the circuit to ourselves for five days and on the Sunday we ran until 7pm, and then only stopped because it was getting dark. The weather was perfect, although for me I would have preferred it a little cooler than the average of 34ºC."

The next test has to finish by the 5th December as the final race meeting of the season is being held there the following weekend.
