Berlin - The German Team Mücke Motorsport from Berlin announced another driver for the season 2013 at the new FIA Formula 3 European Championship: Pascal Wehrlein from Worndorf (Baden-Württemberg).

The 18 year old, who drives for the racing stable from the German capital city already for the fourth season, has been Rookie champion and vice champion last year at the Formula 3 Euro Series as well as fourth at the European Championship.

The young pilot, supported by the ADAC Stiftung Sport and Deutsche Post Speed Academy, has been on track for Mücke Motorsport two years ago at the ADAC Formula Masters and advanced to Formula 3 last year, after his overall win in 2011.

At the season ending in 2012 he took part at the Formula 3 Grand Prix in Macau for the first time and finished on four.

“We are happy to continue the successful collaboration with Pascal in 2013 like the last three years“, team principal Peter Mücke said. “And I am very happy to see Pascal developing pretty well in our team.

The Rookie championship and the surprising vice championship title last year are a great proof of this fact.“ Of course, even in his second year of Formula 3, a young driver like Pascal still has to get more experienced – especially on new tracks. But: “Pascal is able to fight about the European Championship title this year. We will do our best together to achieve that“, Peter Mücke said.

“I am really looking forward to take the next step with Mücke Motorsport. Especially at the second half of last year’s season we have been the strongest team and we want to knot on to that.

It sure will be an advantage to enter the new season with a well-rehearsed team“, Pascal Wehrlein said and he set high goals for himself: “I want to fight about the title and win as many races as possible.“

The driver from Worndorf is happy about the new sportive regulations. “Two Qualifying races and three main races of 35 minutes each on one weekend will be very interesting and require a good tactic.“

Before Wehrlein starts with his test drives for the season opening (22nd to 24th of March in Monza) in Barcelona and Monza in March, he fills up on shape and strength.

Of course, his team colleagues of Mücke Motorsport do the same as well. Pascal Wehrlein will be on track for Mücke Motorsport besides Roy Nissany – he already knows the Israeli at the same age from his champion season at the ADAC Formula Masters 2011 – and Mitchell Gilbert (Australian, lives in England) and all of them will be behind the wheel of a Dallara Mercedes.

Mücke Motorsport contracted the other two drivers previously. “Now we have three promising drivers for the Formula 3 European Championships for the season 2013. The trio will be able to bring each other forward“, Peter Mücke said.
