Two pole positions, two wins, two fastest laps

Carlo van Dam rules at Suzuka

Suzuka - Carlo van Dam today rounded up a perfect weekend at Suzuka, where he won twice. Following yesterday's victory, the Dutchman again dominated today, winning the twelfth round of the 2008 Japanese Formula 3 championship by a huge margin. By setting fastest lap again as well, he collected maximum points, increasing his championship lead to 69 points with six races to go.

"I had a good start again", Carlo sums up the race "but the track was very dirty and slippery today, so initially pulling away from the rest of the field was a bit difficult, but in the end I managed to create a five second gap anyway. I was determined today to claim that extra point you get for setting fastest lap as well. Halfway through the race I saw on my pitboard that my fastest lap was 1.58.0 and I could not imagine that time would be quick enough, so I pushed extra hard the last few laps. Afterwards I saw that I did those last laps in 1.58.0 as well and that it was over half a second quicker than the second fastest. Being slippery, the track was just slower than yesterday, plus with 38C it was even hotter than yesterday. Because I pushed a bit extra those last few laps I ended up finishing 8,5 seconds ahead of my team mates."

"I did not go and live on the other side of the world to finish second, so this was a perfect weekend. I always want to win and doing it this way only is even more satisfying. Especially the last few rounds we have been dominant and we got everything we could out of those races."
