Second consecutive win in Japanese F3

Two in a row for Carlo van Dam

MOTEGI - Dutch Toyota Team TOM's driver Carlo van Dam has today at Motegi won the seventh round of the Japanese Formula 3 Championship, during what has so far been a perfect weekend: in Friday testing and yesterday's qualifying session, 22-year old Carlo was consistently fastest. After today's win (his second in a row and his seventh podium in as many races), Carlo is the sole leader in the championship. Tomorrow, for round eight, he will again start from pole position.

"Things are going quite well this weekend", Carlo confirms. "We tested here earlier this year and already then we were on the pace. Since Friday we have basically been quickest all the time. Of course, winning at Suzuka helped; it always boosts your confidence, as you know you are heading in the right direction. The weather conditions were changeable today and during the race it started to rain. Although the track dried out again towards the end, for about seven laps things were a bit tricky. I had a good start and a good race, but my team mate Kunimoto was on it, too, so I had to work for it. We had a good car, though, and at the finish I had gap of a little more than a second."

Carlo's other team mate Iguchi finished fourth, thus Van Dam now is the sole leader in the championship standings after seven of the eighteen races.

In round eight, staged at Motegi tomorrow, Carlo will again start from pole position.
