Varano, race two: first victory for Zipoli

Gabriele Lucidi (Lucidi Motors, Team Manager):

"This has not been a weekend to remember for our team: a contact at turn one of the first race spoiled the whole weekend for Campana who tried to limit the damage with a good recover in race two. Prandi has been victim of a contact too in the second race but in the first one hi managed to score points; the four points harvested by Liberati will set his basis for growing a season finale".

Angelo Corbetta (Corbetta Competizioni, Team Principal):

"The development work that we have been performing for weeks starts to show the first fruits: we did not go bad at Misano and here we came back to a good level of competitiveness. Cinti, as the whole team, is growing a lot: today his first podium in Formula 3 arrived and the third place in the final rookies' classification is definitely at his reach".

Piercarlo Ghinzani (Team Ghinzani, Team Principal):

"After the podium at Misano, Cicatelli repeated himself here in race one; shame for the episode in race two that took off him as well as Prandi. Cicogniani is always improving and he had his best weekend of the season points-wise".

Enrico Glorioso (Gloria Pro Team, Team Owner):

"Federico could not avoid the collision with Campana in race one and that cost him the retirement. In race two our cars got very close to scoring points, an objective we want to achieve at Imola".

Fabio Pampado (RP Motorsport, Team Principal):

"Within our programme for the development of young drivers, the weekend at Varano has been positive: Ceccon showed to be able to fight in the bagarre while Bulnes made some further progress behind the wheel of the F305".

Zampieri stands now at the lead of the classification with 115 points and he is followed by Zipoli (99), Campana (94) and Campos-Hull (93). The next round of the Italian Formula 3 Championship is scheduled for 6 September at Imola,

First victory for Marco Zipoli (BVM-Target) in Formula 3, who preceded under the chequered flag of race two at Varano de' Melegari Stephane Richelmi (RC Motorsport) and Riccardo Cinti (Corbetta Compezioni). Forced retirement instead for the classification leader Daniel Zampieri (BVM-Target) as consequence of the damages reported in a contact with an opponent.

The protagonists' comment follows:

Giuseppe Mazzotti (BVM-Target, Team Manager):

"It has been a virtually perfect weekend: Zampieri set the pole position and won race one whereby he also got the fastest lap of the race, while Zipoli stepped on the top place of the podium of race two. We have two drivers at the first two places of the classification: it's hard to desire something more than that".

Grazia Troncon (Prema Powerteam, Team Manager):

"Castellacci unfortunately had a weekend lower than expectations even if he got points in both races. Campos-Hull with twenty four points has been the driver that harvested the most in the two races: we missed the victory but with six races still to run the championship is open".

Cristiano Giardina (RC Motorsport, Team Manager):

"After the debut weekend at Mugello, Richelmi kept in classification the same pace of Zampieri, with thirty-seven points in the last four races, a piece of information that synthesizes his competitiveness. He is a fast driver, well prepared and he had a good feeling with the team since the beginning; Kamitsakis decided not to continue at the end of free practice".

Alberto Locatelli (Alan Racing Team, Team Principal):

"I was really surprised when at park ferme' I saw the conditions of the Mygale of Sanchez-Lopez after the contacts of race two: the Mexican driver has been skilled in concluding the race and the car showed once more the value of this project. Comi has been involved in the bagarre but in qualifying we have seen positive signals on his growth: I believe in this kid and he will soon award us with some satisfactions".
