Sanchez-Lopez awards an historic success to Mygale

Piercarlo Ghinzani (Team Ghinzani, Team Principal):

"The outcome of our weekend is positive: Cicatelli had a good feeling with the team since last week's tests and proved to be able to compete since the beginning at the levels that last year allowed him to test the Ferrari Formula One car. Some episodes during the race prevented him from fighting for the victory but definitely he does not lack the potential to aim at the victory. Great performance from Cicognani too who harvested his best result of the season in race two".

Cristiano Giardina (RC Motorsport, Team Principal):

"This has been a double-faced weekend for us: Richelmi has constantly been competitive and proved to be able to fight for important positions. Kamitsakis suffered a considerable speed lack in the straight for which we could not understand the reason. The difference in terms of top speed of our cars in race two was almost 8km/h".

Fabio Pampado (RP Motorsport, Team Manager):

"We are definitely satisfied by the performance of Bulnes: he was just at his third racing weekend in Formula 3 and did not cut a poor figure despite the high level of the championship. Ceccon suffered brakes problems for quite a bit of the weekend, we managed to solve them only in race two. Without this inconvenience he would have certainly obtained something more".

Angelo Corbetta (Corbetta Competizioni, Team Principal):

"We made a good progress that allowed Cinti to finish into points both races scoring quite positive lap times. Before Varano we will be back on track to improve further and to start the second part of the season with the right foot: Riccardo is improving race after race and with him the objectives of the team".

Enrico Glorioso (Gloria Pro Team, Team Principal):

"We are still working to the startup of our team: the first half of the season ended with two points obtained, a bit of experience and a lot of mechanisms that are starting to work well. I believe that we will be more ready in the second part of the season to focus our efforts on performances".

The classification sees Zampieri at the lead with 93 points, ahead of Campana with 91. Zipoli is third with 80 and his followed by Sanchez-Lopez (72) and Campos-Hull (69).

Next round of the Italian Formula 3 Championship is scheduled for 2 August at Varano de' Melegari (Parma).

19/07/2009 - First victory of the season in race two for Pablo Sanchez Lopez (Alan Racing Team), who awarded Mygale the first victory in the Italian Formula 3 championship. Behind him, Marco Zipoli (Lucidi Motors) and Salvatore Cicatelli (Team Ghinzani).

As in the first race yesterday, crucial episode at the start with Daniel Zampieri (BVM-Target) who had a contact with Stephane Richelmi causing the retirement of the two drivers of Lucidi Motors, Sergio Campana and Francesco Prandi. At the end of the race, the classification leader, deemed responsible of the accident by stewards, has been penalized by 25 seconds and therefore relegated from the second to the eleventh place.

The comment of protagonists follows:

Gabriele Lucidi (Lucidi Motors, Team Manager):

"Campana confirmed to be competitive throughout the weekend, he won authoritatively race one and got closer to Zampieri in the classification. A positive outcome despite his involvement in an accident in race two caused by himself that at the getaway prevented him from obtaining some probable further points and involved Prandi too. Great performance from Zipoli who got on the podium at his debut with the team and strengthened his position in hte championship. Prandi confirmed his growth in race one with three more points, what a shame he could not repeat himself in race two".

Alberto Locatelli (Alan Racing Team, Team Principal):

"This first victory in Italy for a Mygale chassis awards the team for all the development work of these months together with the French constructor, which always believed in us. Sanchez successfully used for the first time the first part of an aero evolution step to which some more details will be added in occasion of the next round at Varano. Meanwhile, Comi tested an innovation for the rear wing that should give us a further step forward".

Grazia Troncon (Prema Powerteam, Team Manager):

"We cannot say to have harvested what we expected at the eve: after the pole position, Campos-Hull's weekend has been unavoidably compromised by a race contact with Zampieri that cost him the retirement in race one. Today he as been anyway author of a good race and, despite starting from the back, he managed to obtain those points that could turn out to be very important in the season finale. Castellacci lived his best weekend in this season point-wise and had the satisfaction of race one's podium".
