The Italian Formula 3 Championship 2008 starts with a double podium for Lucidi Motors.

In the first race, held yesterday, Mirko Bortolotti concluded second just behind the winner Edoardo Piscopo. Points for Giovanni Nava, fourth, while Francesco Castellacci, victim of two off track excurisions was pushed back to the fourteenth position.

Today, in the second race, third place of the podium for Castellacci that concluded right in front of Nava. Bortolotti, sixth, scored some points too.

The classification sees Edoardo Piscopo at the lead (Team Ghinzani) with 24 points. Bortolotti is third (11), followed by Nava (10) while Castellacci is sixth (6). The next round of the series is scheduled for next 8th of June at Magione.

Gabriele Lucidi (Team Manager):

"We did not have any reliability issue on our new single seaters. Performance-wise, despite a gap towards Piscopo, we proved to be competitive. The podium scored by Bortolotti and Castellacci is a good starting point, as the good weekend of Nava, who was at his first races in Formula 3".

Mirko Bortolotti:

"Considered that I did not really lap during winter tests, the outcome of my weekend is positive. Without the traffic in qualifying, that forced me to wear more than expected my tyres, my results in race could have probably been better. The championship will be long anyway and it was crucial to start getting points from the first race".

Giovanni Nava:

"I am back from Mugello as best debutant, a positive result that gives me confidence for the season. In the first part of the championship I will necessarily have to get some experience to aim, in a few months time, to good results."

Francesco Castellacci:

"The car today was much faster than yesterday; I could have pushed harder but Verdonck was quite difficult to catch while the advantage to Nava gave me a tranquility margin. I decided not to get any risks to score points that could be useful for the classification at a later stage".
