CHAVES RETURNS TO ITALIAN F3 COCKPIT IN GERMANY
American teenage standout will be one to watch at the Hockenheimring
SAN PIETRO MOSEZZO, ITALY (June 10, 2010) - Teenage star Gabby Chaves resumes his pursuit of European junior formula car glory this weekend (June 12-13), with Rounds Three and Four of the Italian Formula 3 Championship at the Hockenheimring in Germany. The highly regarded American enters his second F3 event with Eurointernational currently lying second in the Rookie of the Year standings, and having shown well in recent testing.
Chaves, with the ultimate goal of racing in Formula One, will get the chance to fight for race supremacy on Grand Prix circuit for the first time, when he and the rest of the Italia F3 field take to the 2.842-mile Hockenheimring road course in southern Germany. In what will the Italian Formula 3 Championship's sole visit outside of Italy, the reigning FBMW Americas champion will be seeking to not only lead the competitive rookie contingent, but also challenge for top honors. Despite being an F3 and European rookie with series newcomer Eurointernational, Chaves has repeatedly shown good speed in both private and official series testing. As a result, the Mygale M-10 race pilot enters Rounds Three and Four confident of adding to his already impressive racing resume.
"I'm really looking forward to racing at the Hockenheimring this weekend," stated Chaves. "It's my first chance to race on a European F1 track, and I have a good feeling going into the races, as we've been working hard during testing leading up to the event."
Eurointernational's Chaves and the rest of the 30+ car Italian Formula 3 Championship field will first take to the Hockenheimring road course on Friday (June 11), via two one and half hour free practice sessions. Qualifying for Round Three will take place on Saturday morning, followed by the opening 28-minute plus a lap race late in the afternoon. Race two of the German doubleheader will take place on Sunday afternoon (June 13), a short time after the lunch break.
