Andrea Caldarelli wins again at Mugello

Andrea Caldarelli posted a sensational weekend at the Mugello racetrack, in the seventh round of the 2010 Italian Formula 3 Championship. The Abruzzo-based racer, fielded by Prema Powerteam, repeated what accomplished in the series' first outing at the venue in July. Andrea collected 27 points, and got back close to the championship lead. Just 24 points are separating him from the top of the charts, and after the bad break suffered at Vallelunga, Mugello has re-opened the whole title hunt.

At Mugello, Andrea became the youngest driver to win an Italian Championship race in 2005, running in Formula Azzura, and he always proved to have a positive feel with the venue. In July, he cruised to his second victory of the year after dominating at Misano. This weekend, he also scored another hat-trick on Race 1 by taking the pole position and the fastest lap of the day.

On Race 2, he then recovered up to 6th after being forced to take off from 8th by the reversed top-8 format. After hitting the track in 4th place in standings, Caldarelli regai- ned third spot in with 124 points, and still holds an advantage in terms of results availa- ble for dropping.

Andrea Caldarelli
"I'm really happy to have scored a new win on such a demanding and selective track like Mugello. I want to thank my team, that went along with me from a technical stan- dpoint, with the result of having the best-suited car for this track. Without the incident that put me out of contention at Vallelunga I would have been in second place in stan- dings, but I'm not giving up. Now we're looking forward to Monza, in order to score the best results we can and clinch the title on the next 24th of October".
