HITECH CONFIRMS MASTERS OF F3 ENTRY
Hitech Racing has confirmed its regular pairing of Marko Asmer and Walter Grubmuller will contest the Zandvoort Masters of F3 event next weekend, which this year switches from the Dutch track to Zolder in Belgium. The historic event brings together the cream of the European Formula 3 racers and will be the first time this season that the pair have gone head-to-head with the Euroseries runners.
It's a task that team Principal David Hayle is relishing: "In Marko I feel we have the strongest driver out there. This year Marko has shown his class week in week out and his stunning performance in race one in Spa, when he passed 15 cars in one lap shows his superb racing ability. Also this season we have again proved Hitech is undoubtedly one of the top teams; however we're realistic enough to know that the event will be tough as we're not only competing against the best British teams but also the best of the Europeans.
"For Walter it will be the first time for him competing against the European opposition but I'm confident he'll cope and adapt well to the conditions. He knows Zolder too; he's competed there a couple of times already so we'll be looking for a good result from both Marko and Walter."
For the Lloyds TSB Insurance British Formula 3 International Series points leaders, the event also marks a switch of rubber, from the Avon tyre run in the UK to Kumho favoured by the European runners. Despite the change, Hayle doesn't feel this will be an issue for his team and drivers.
"We've used Kumho tyres before, we raced a few times last season on them, of course the drivers need to adapt slightly too, but I'm reasonably satisfied that this won't prove a problem for them. They're both very able drivers and learn quickly so it will just be an interesting challenge and one I'm sure they'll both rise to."
The Zandvoort Masters of F3 takes place next weekend, August 3-5 and kicks off with practice at the Zolder circuit on Friday prior to qualifying on Saturday and the races on Sunday.
