RENGER STARTS NEW FORMULA 3 SEASON ON COLD TIRES!
Nijmegen, 20 April 2006 - Renger van der Zande stands at the dawn of a new adventure. The Formula 3 rookie will take part in his first free training sessions in the German Formula 3 in Oschersleben tomorrow (Friday). He and his young team at SMS Seyffarth Motorsport aim at scoring high from the first minute onwards. Because Renger was signed by Mercedes about 1 ½ months ago only, there has not been much opportunity for him to practice. Nevertheless, the Q dancer will try to take part in the fight for the first few spots immediately! We shall know more after this weekend..!
The young ex-kart racer laid a broad foundation for his future success in motor sport, in Germany last year. He was Dutch Formula 2.0 champion in 2005 and did a number of races in Germany that year as well. Amongst others he raced in Oschersleben, on the Nürburgring, the Sachsenring, the Hockenheimring and the Eurospeedway. More than once was he the great winner of any of these weekends. In the coming season Renger will try to forge a real team around him in order to finish the season on the highest spot of the podium again. A completely new adventure for Renger, who will be competing against 32 international talents, who mostly have a number of years of experience in F3-racing.
He will be supported by his personal sponsors Q dance, Go Fast and Men_at_Work as well as Mercedes-Benz. Mercedes' motivation is clear. The Germany car manufacturer wants a team in the German F3 besides their team in the Euroseries F3. They chose Seyffarth Motorsport and Renger van der Zander to execute this plan. The fact that he was one of the candidates for the gifted program of Mercedes was already a great honor for Renger. Getting the explicit task of testing as much as possible in the coming season is an even bigger challenge. A great change for Renger to further pursue a career in top-level motor sport.
Renger:' Although I only had little time to prepare, the races in Oschersleben will start tomorrow already. We start from scratch and must make sure that we are on top of things from the very beginning on. I am busy building a good team around me with my new engineer, mechanic, data analyst and team manager. I will try to distinguish myself from the other drivers immediately. I have been looking forward to the races in Oschersleben for weeks now. When I was supposed to go see the Easter races with my friends last weekend, I was home studying the car and the track in detail. I want to be on top of things at the right time. I will give 100% this season to fully exploit my chance in the Formula 3 in Germany!'
