JOHN MAGRO TURNS INTO A ROCKSTAR FOR TEAM BRM F3 DEBUT!

John Magro will turn from a mild-mannered North-Queensland based Mango farmer to a high-energy, Open-wheel racing driver in the space of just a few seconds next week -- thanks to a quick sip of ROCKSTAR energy drink and the fact he'll be making his debut in one of Australia's quickest racing cars; a Formula 3 Dallara.

21-year-old Magro will make his 'wings and slicks' debut with Team BRM at Mallala Raceway during round four of the 2008 Kumho Tyres Australian Formula 3 Championship at Mallala Raceway near Adelaide, with sponsorship from ROCKSTAR energy drink and Unit Clothing.

Magro joins Team BRM having contested a majority of the 2006 Australian Formula Ford Championship with the Adelaide-based, three-time F3 Championship winning team, however has never started a Formula 3 race.

He has, however, testing experience in a Team BRM Dallara and will also complete the official Formula 3 pre-round test to be held the Wednesday before the May 16 -- 18 Round.

Magro will drive the #3 Rockstar Energy Drink / Unit Clothing Dallara F307 Mercedes Benz driven to a podium finish at the Clipsal 500 Adelaide (Round two of the F3 championship) earlier this year.

Magro said that the support of ROCKSTAR Energy drink, a sponsor new to Formula 3 racing, gave him the kind of boost he needed ahead of this weekends' round -- and that's before he's even taken a sip!

"It's awesome that ROCKSTAR has come on board to support me at Mallala next week," Magro said.

"They have sponsored a V8 Supercar in the past but it's great that they are interested in what I'm trying to do in Formula 3. I'm confident that with ROCKSTAR Energy Drink and Unit Clothing on board for next weekend, coupled with a strong car from Team BRM, we're up for a good weekend."

Magro explained that although he's not yet raced a Formula 3 car in anger; his prior testing experience at Mallala looks set to ease his transition ahead of the weekend.

"Team BRM's home test track is Mallala, which makes it a great place to debut in a F3 car," he said.

"I've done a hundred laps in an F3 car there in testing in the past, and know the place inside out thanks to the testing and racing I did there in the Formula Ford. It's a track I know well and that gives me a lot of confidence.

"It will be my first race in about ten months -- but with everything coming together the way it has, and the fact that I'll get to test on the Wednesday before the round -- gives me a lot of confidence that I can get a good result next week."

Team BRM manager Mark Rundle said that the team was keen to welcome Magro 'back into the fold'.

"We have had a great relationship with John for a few years now, and he had a really good debut season in Formula Ford before budgetary restraints forced him out of the car for the final few rounds.

"We're really pleased that he has the support of ROCKSTAR Energy Drink and Unit Clothing to be able to come and race again with us at Mallala next week. He'll be up against a competitive field but I'm confident that he will be on the pace very quickly in what will be a very competitive field." Rundle said.
