The weekend began on Friday morning with two one-and-a-half hour free practice sessions. Carlo went out with old tyres en got acquainted with the 3,645 meter long track. Vietoris took pole again followed by Van Dam. The Dutchman's main rival Frederik Vervisch finished in third and fourth respectively.

RACE 01 + 02:

The start of the first race was not without any troubles for Van Dam. During the installation lap his engine stalled which was not good for his start. Vervisch and Nico Verdonck were able to overtake him. Due to the electrical problems his display malfunctioned so he needed to change gear without any visual adds. Van Dam fought his way ba ck and managed to get on the podium after Verdonck hit the barrier. After eighteen laps Van Dam passed the line in third place.

Van Dam immediately took the lead on Sunday when pole sitter Vietoris retired with a broken clutch. The 21-year old driver continuously improved his lap time and was the fastest five laps before the end. His leading position never was challenged and Van Dam not only ook the win but also took the important ATS Formula 3 Cup title! For the eighth time the Dutch anthem was played for the quick Dutchman!

CARLO VAN DAM: "I am so happy to win the championship! This season I was the best and I took the win today in a convincing manner. I had a great start and immediately created a gap between myself and the rest. In the final stages of the race it was a bit tense because I lost time lapping slower competitors. Despite this my win never was in danger. I would like to thank my team boss Frits van Amersfoort and the entire crew with my engineers (Wilmar and Vincent) for their work and support. I really liked working together with them. And of course it is great to celebrate my win with forty man of Legamaster. Finally, I would like to thank my sponsors since they helped me a lot this season. Within two weeks I can even expand my lead, but now it is time to open the champagne and celebrate our wins!"
