CARLO VAN DAM REUNITED WITH VAN AMERSFOORT RACING

VLAARDINGEN, 04 APRIL 2007 -- Carlo van Dam has signed an agreement with Van Amersfoort Racing and will race for the team in the ATS Formula 3 Cup. With his move the S-T-A-R-T driver will return to the Dutch race team and will be chasing the highly desired title in the ATS Formula 3 Cup.

During the last two seasons Carlo drove for the French team SG Formula and managed to score many international successes. After the driver from Vlaardingen, Holland finished fourth in the 2005 Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 (including 4 podium finishes, 12 top six finishes and one fastest race lap), he took third place in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 championship last year. With a glorious victory at Le Mans, 5 podium finishes and 2 pole positions Van Dam said goodbye to the two-litre Formula Renault. Van Dam is now ready to take the next step in his racing career.

In the recent winter period the 21-year old driver was constantly busy. The former Renault Driver Development Program pupil started his preparations for the new season in October already. After a successful Formula 3 debut with Prema Powerteam, Carlo went back to his old racing team Van Amersfoort Racing. In 2004 Van Dam started his racing career at the renowned race team and won the 'best rookie' award in the Dutch Formula Renault 2.0 championship. Van Dam tested the Formula 3 car that was entered by the team in the German Formula 3 championship last season. On both test days he put the Opel-Spiess powered Formula 3 car on top of the timing sheets. After this test he once again impressed during further Formula 3 tests at Magny-Cours (with Signature-Plus) and Vallelunga (Prema again).

Van Dam went back to his old team after three years. Van Amersfoort Racing, the most successful race team from Holland, returned to the Recaro Formula 3 Cup, after missing out one year. Frits van Amersfoort, who is carrying the autosport virus for over thirty years, has had many successes in Formula 3. With Bas Leinders at the wheel he won the Formula 3 championship in 1998, while Christijan Albers scored two race victories in his debut year. Drivers like Jos Verstappen and Tom Coronel also learned their tricks at Van Amersfoort Racing.

The ATS F3 Cup will have 9 race weekends, mostly driven on the known German circuits. The championship will also visit Assen twice this year. The American Champ Car event and the popular Rizla Racing Days will also be the highlights of the season.

Team manager FRITS VAN AMERSFOORT: "I am very happy that Carlo will be reunited with our team. In the last couple of years I kept following Carlo and he really impressed us in the Formula 3 car during our winter test. I am really pleased that we will be able to work together on a successful cooperation. With his experience Carlo is a clear title contender in the ATS F3 Cup!"

CARLO VAN DAM: "I am happy to defend the Van Amersfoort Racing colours again. The choice to switch from Formula Renault 2.0 to the ATS Formula 3 Cup was a logical decision for me. After two great seasons in Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 I wanted to move up the ladder and Formula 3 is the best way to do so. With the right dedication and devotion I am sure that the team will fight for the big prizes. Thanks to the support of Stichting S-T-A-R-T and my sponsors Legamaster, Dealmakers, FlexWorx!, Impress, Dorzo Vlaardingen, Texim-Europe and Powerball Europe I will get the chance to proof myself and I will take this opportunity with both hands. I will be announcing more news regarding my racing ambitions. The new season promises to be very interesting!"
