F3 Alex Yoong to Start British Campaign from Rd. 3
Saturday, March 27th 1999, London - Malaysia's only Formula 3 racer will start his 1999 British Formula 3 Championship campaign from round 3 scheduled for the 4th of April in Thruxton due to the financial problems he is facing.
The good news is that the Alan Docking Racing team whom he drives for has received the delivery of Yoong's brand new Dallara F398 Mugen Honda and work has started in earnest to get the car ready for the TOCA's official test day for next Wednesday the 31st of March.
Yoong, though disappointed with the less than a perfect start to his all important season is looking forward to Thruxton, " I will only have half a day of testing in my new car before I face qualifying on Saturday while most of the teams had 1000 miles or more of testing and racing behaind them. I'm not going to let this affect me and I aim to be consistent the whole year in order to accumulate the points I've lost."
Alan Docking, the team boss said, " Alex will be right there with the top pack although winning will be uphill for him in rd.3. I expect him to remain a serious contender this year but the Malaysians back home need to get their act together to give him the best chance possible."
