T-Sport’s FIA Formula 3 European Championship line-up was completed today with the announcement that young Spaniard Alex Toril has joined the Brackley-based team.

The 17 year-old racer served a traditional apprenticeship in karts before making the move to cars in 2011 when he raced an Autosport Academy Formula Renault 1.6 car.

In 2013 Alex raced in the European F3 Open. The fact that he finished in fifth place overall in the championship was all the incentive he needed to make the jump to the most competitive F3 series of them all: the FIA Formula 3 European Championship.

“I am very happy to be able to race in the FIA European F3 series as I get to race with a very professional team and also have the unique experience of racing at the Macau GP,” said Alex. “I am highly motivated to start the season strongly and I am sure that with T-Sport I will be able to do a great job. I hope I can demonstrate this year all the experience I have been accumulating during the last two seasons and see how this has prepared me for one of the most competitive European grids.”

“We’re delighted that Alex has joined T-Sport for the European F3 season,” said Team Principal Russell Eacott. “Judging by his results in F3 Open he is a very talented driver so we look forward to working with him. The European championship is very competitive but we think Alex has what it takes to do a great job.”

Pre-season testing gets underway in March.
